Potential health, behavior and psychological benefits for spaying and neutering your puppy...... JUST OUR OPINION :)
If a dog isn't being used for breeding purposes and or hunting or sporting events. The dog should be spayed or neutered. Why you ask ? Most folks would think about the benefits being health reasons only. Nope....there are tons of behavior and psychological reasons why a dog that does not breed, hunt or sport should be fixed.
Behavior: Dogs that are fixed.... chew and destroy our belongings less, they fight and argue less with other animals, are less possessive and dominating, listen to commands better, understand boundries and limitations better, and tend to be more more moderately active, calmer instead of hyper-active. When a dog has pent up sexual energy and feelings that are not released by having sexual activity, you will endure alot of these types of behavior problems and they drive a wedge between the animal and its human family. When females come into heat whether in the same home or in the neighborhood (they can smell up to a mile) and the male dog cannot or isnt allowed to have sex they feel frustrated. Males have lots of hormones and when they are not released by having sex, the animal feels frustrated and has pent up aggression. So, a spay or neutered dog is a better balanced animal and functions better with in a family, is more family functional.
Psychological: Dogs that are fixed.....suffer less depression, anxiety, confusion and are happier and more psychologically sound. When a dog has pent up sexual energy and feelings that are not released by having sexual activity, they will often feel depressed, lonely, fearful, and will be emotionally less attached to their human family. When a males produces hormones and a female comes in to heat and sex does not take place in either.... the natural will to produce off-spring has failed and it can psychologically damage a dog. When you spay and neuter the hormones are absent, they do not exist and so does the heat. The need to breed and all the frustrations and aggressive that come with these hormones are gone. So the doggy no longer has feelings of breeding and reproducing. Making a happier healthier family functional doggy.
